The current Formula 1 world champion shared his thoughts on the tight championship battle this season. The Dutch driver currently leads the championship with a 31-point advantage, making it the closest competition since 2021.

Max Verstappen has won five races this season out of a total of eight possible, while , , and claimed victory in the remaining three. Charles Leclerc’s outstanding performance at the Monaco Grand Prix earned him the top spot in the drivers’ championship with 138 points.

Verstappen praised Leclerc for his victory at the Monaco Grand Prix and acknowledged the challenging nature of this year’s championship battle, which differs from the previous two seasons. The Dutch driver finished in sixth place in Sunday’s race, marking his worst position of the season.

Last season, Max Verstappen dominated the field by winning 19 out of 22 races, with Carlos Sainz being the only non-Red Bull driver to secure a victory. However, this season, Ferrari and McLaren have already claimed three victories, actively challenging Red Bull in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.

A Red Bull representative, acting as a consultant, spoke to the press about the necessary expenses to repair Sergio Perez’s RB20. The car suffered extensive damage during the first lap of the Monaco Grand Prix after colliding with . This incident marked Sergio Perez’s first retirement (DNF) of the 2024 season.

Sergio Perez started the race in 16th position on the grid after a disappointing performance in Q1. On Sunday, during the first lap at turn one, Kevin Magnussen tried to overtake Perez through a narrow gap, resulting in a collision between the two drivers.

The collision triggered the red flags and forced both Perez and Magnussen to retire from the race. Perez will now seek to deliver his best performance to make up for the lost points in the Monaco Grand Prix, while aiming to secure his position at Red Bull for the next season.
