Maserati pode voltar a apostar num GT com caixa manual

Maserati may be considering the possibility of producing a new top-of-the-line super-GT with a V6 engine and manual transmission, to bolster its luxury brand credentials, despite the sharp decline in sales that the Trident brand has been experiencing recently.

Defined as a limited edition, the new Maserati could hit the market in 2026, featuring a more exclusive and powerful combustion engine than the company has produced since the launch of the MC12. It should be noted that Maserati canceled the electric MC20 earlier this year due to weak demand for electric sports cars.

In an interview with the British “Autocar”, Davide Danesin, Maserati’s engineering director, suggested that it is possible for a vehicle with a manual gearbox to move forward. According to Danesin, there are still customers who want “cars with combustion engines” and are not interested in electric vehicles.

Therefore, the same official from the Trident brand did not hide that “by producing a vehicle with a combustion engine, it makes sense to have a manual transmission.”

Confirming the possibility of Maserati moving forward with a special and limited edition of a model equipped with a V6 engine, it is likely that the Trident brand will resort to the well-known Nettuno engine, which powers the MCPura, delivering 630 hp at 7500 rpm, 730 Nm from 3000 rpm, and which can be upgraded to provide more power.
