Martins Sesks Set to Ignite WRC Saudi Arabia Finale with M-Sport Comeback!

In a thrilling announcement that has sent shockwaves through the World Rally Championship (WRC), rising star Martins Sesks is officially rejoining M-Sport for the season finale in Saudi Arabia! This exciting development comes as part of an expanded four-car M-Sport-Ford lineup, which will also feature the legendary Nasser Al-Attiyah, a multiple Dakar Rally champion. Buckle up, because this is shaping up to be an electrifying end to the WRC season!

Sesks, a dynamic talent from Latvia, has been making waves in the WRC since his debut last year, where he astounded fans with a fifth-place finish at the Rally1 event in a non-hybrid powered Ford Puma. His performance was nothing short of sensational, especially when he was on the cusp of a podium finish in Latvia before an unforeseen technical glitch struck during the final stage. With a determination to build on his early success, Sesks joined M-Sport this season for a six-round program, and thanks to crucial funding from the WRC Promoter, he’s set to add yet another round to his impressive resume.

The 26-year-old driver has displayed flashes of brilliance throughout the season, including a commendable sixth place in Sweden and solid top-eight finishes in both Estonia and Finland. Notably, he clinched victory at Rally Poland, which was a round in the European Rally Championship. His momentum is undeniable, and he’s grateful for the unwavering support from fans and sponsors. “I’m very grateful for the support and encouragement we’ve received from our sponsors and fans,” Sesks expressed. “We all believed the seventh round would go ahead, and now we’re heading to Jeddah to make the most of everything the WRC season can offer.”

As excitement builds, Sesks faces the unique challenge of adapting to the Saudi Arabian terrain without the advantage of pre-event testing. However, he is keen to leverage insights from the shakedown session and is looking forward to the invaluable experience that Al-Attiyah brings to the team. “The participation of Nasser Al-Attiyah, and his experience in these parts, is a real bonus for the M-Sport team,” he added, highlighting the advantage of having a seasoned veteran by his side.

M-Sport team principal Richard Millener echoed Sesks’ sentiments, praising his impressive performance and growth throughout the season. “Martiņs has impressed us this season with his pace, maturity, and approach to learning the Rally1 car. His results in Sweden, Estonia, and Finland show he has real potential on loose-surface events,” Millener stated. “Rally Saudi Arabia will be another opportunity for him to demonstrate that, especially as it is a new event for all.”

As for Al-Attiyah, who will be making a one-off return to the WRC driving a Ford Puma for the first time, his vast experience is expected to provide a significant boost to the younger drivers on the team. Millener suggested that while Al-Attiyah may not be gunning for a win, his presence will serve as a crucial learning tool for up-and-coming talent. “Having a lot of experience gives some good knowledge to our young guys, which will help and they can have a different benchmark,” he remarked. “You have to remember he has never driven the car and he won’t have a test, but he is a driver who will just jump in the car and drive it.”

With the WRC Saudi Arabia finale on the horizon, all eyes will be on Sesks and Al-Attiyah as they join full-time drivers Gregoire Munster and Josh McErlean in this thrilling showdown. The stakes are high, the competition fierce, and the excitement palpable as the M-Sport team prepares to take on the challenges ahead.

Get ready for an unforgettable rally experience as Martins Sesks aims to showcase his skills and take the WRC by storm in Saudi Arabia!
