Lewis Hamilton has publicly discussed his choice to leave Mercedes and join Ferrari on two separate occasions. He made an announcement on social media and also spoke about it during Mercedes’ car launch for 2024. Martin Brundle, a former Formula 1 driver and current commentator for Sky Sports, has responded to Hamilton’s statements regarding his move to Ferrari. The seven-time world champion will be concluding his final season with the Silver Arrows and starting in 2025, he will be driving for Ferrari, taking the place of Carlos Sainz. Hamilton has had a long-standing relationship with Mercedes, which began when the German car manufacturer had a stake in his former team McLaren. In his social media announcement, the 39-year-old expressed that his decision to make the move was filled with various emotions and described it as the most difficult choice he has ever made. However, he also mentioned that joining Ferrari is a childhood dream come true and he will be partnering with Charles Leclerc. Brundle, speaking on the Sky Sports Formula 1 podcast, provided a direct assessment of Hamilton’s remarks, suggesting that the decision may not have been as challenging as Hamilton made it out to be. He stated that Hamilton is a dominant force in the sport and emphasized that the move to Ferrari will be a major story in the world of sports in 2025. Brundle also pointed out that teams often only disclose selected information about contract signings that benefit them and may not mention certain details, such as Hamilton having an exit clause in his contract.
