Folks, feast your eyes on these captivating images in the gallery. Prepare to be amazed by the electrified Marlin hardtail, a game-changer in the world of cycling. Trek has always been known for its affordable options, but with the addition of electronic components, the price has gone up. The new frames have been specially designed to support the added weight and dynamics of the e-drive system.

Introducing the Marlin+ 6, the more budget-friendly option of the two newly unveiled machines. Currently available for around £2,500, this beauty is unfortunately not yet accessible to riders in the US. For those interested, the conversion comes to approximately $3,200. Don’t forget to factor in shipping costs if you decide to make this your new ride.

But what sets this bike apart from the rest? Let’s start with the foundation of any bicycle – the frame. Trek utilizes its Alpha Platinum aluminum mix, keeping costs down while providing a sturdy MTB experience. The top tube drops low towards the seat tube, allowing for clearance on drops. The internal cable routing ensures a snag-free ride. Depending on the frame size, you can use up to 29-inch tires. Personally, I’m a fan of the mullet setup, and with an SR Suntour XCM offering up to 120 mm (4.7 in) of travel, you can conquer any terrain.

Now, I must admit, this isn’t the type of bike you’ll be catching air with. The medium-sized frame weighs in at 49.5 lbs (22.5 kg). However, for those of us seeking an introduction to e-biking, this might just be the perfect choice. And who better to provide that introduction than Bosch, one of the industry’s most experienced players? Trek has experimented with various e-component manufacturers, but Bosch has always been a trusted partner. The Marlin+ 6 comes equipped with an Active Line Plus motor, capable of delivering a respectable 50 Nm of torque.

Trust me when I say that 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) from a mid-mounted motor is more than enough to keep a smile on your face, and even surprise you from time to time. The power for this beast comes from a 400 Wh CompactTube battery, seamlessly integrated into the down tube. Unfortunately, no information about the peak range is available on the manufacturer’s website, so you won’t be able to extend your ride with an extra battery pack.

Trek Marlin+ 6: The Ultimate Hybrid EV for Long Rides and Urban Adventures

In a recent study conducted by Bosch, it has been revealed that the Trek Marlin+ 6, equipped with knobby tires and designed for off-road adventures, can achieve an impressive maximum range of 90 km (56 mi) at speeds of up to 18 kph (11 mph). Even at a slightly faster pace of 25 kph (15.5 mph), this hybrid electric vehicle can still cover a distance of 77 km (48 miles). Of course, these figures are rough estimates and may vary depending on the actual riding conditions. However, for those looking to extend their range, a range extender is available.

One feature of the Marlin+ 6 that sets it apart from other electric bikes is its cargo mounts. These mounts are strategically placed all over the frame, allowing riders to carry not only water bottles but also various cargo-carrying features. This means that you can now embark on those long rides to the outskirts of town and even camp overnight. With a little practice in utilizing the electric assistance, especially during climbs or to gain speed, you can easily stretch those 48 miles and go the extra mile.

The practicality of the Marlin+ 6 extends beyond recreational purposes. Thanks to features like the rear cargo rack, this electric bike is also suitable for urban settings. Whether you need to transport groceries or laptops, this MTB (mountain bike) hybrid has got you covered. Its hardtail design ensures that all your energy is directed towards the rear wheel, providing a smooth and efficient ride. Additionally, the fork lockout feature further enhances the overall experience.

When it comes to the drivetrain, Trek has opted for Shimano’s innovative Cues setup, which aims to replace numerous existing drivetrains in Shimano’s lineup. This setup offers a 1×9 speed configuration, providing a wide range of gears for various terrains. Tektro takes care of the braking system, equipping the Marlin+ 6 with a pair of hydraulic chompers and 203 mm (8 in) rotors, delivering exceptional stopping power.

If you’re interested in experiencing the Trek Marlin+ 6 firsthand, it’s recommended to visit a local dealership that may have this model in stock. However, keep in mind that this e-bike may be a significant investment, especially if it’s your first one. Trek, a renowned and trusted brand in the biking industry since the 70s, has crafted and fine-tuned this model to perfection. So, be prepared to bring along your checkbook, as this bike is sure to impress.
