In a shocking turn of events, Mark Andrews, the star tight end for the Baltimore Ravens, became a hero on a recent flight from Baltimore to Phoenix. Despite being an NFL player, Andrews displayed unexpected medical acumen when a woman experienced a medical emergency mid-flight.

Springs shared the details of the incident on X, stating, “A woman on my Southwest flight from Baltimore to Phoenix this morning had a mid-flight medical emergency. The doctor and nurse attending to her couldn’t find a strong pulse, her blood pressure was extremely low, and required oxygen to breathe. It was genuinely scary.”
Interestingly, Andrews, who is a Type 1 diabetic, actively assisted the on-flight medical team in their efforts to find a pulse on the unresponsive woman. Using his knowledge and resources, Andrews suggested checking her blood sugar levels, providing a diabetic testing kit, and instructing the crew on its usage. This collective effort proved successful in stabilizing the woman until the flight landed safely.
Upon landing, paramedics promptly met the flight to provide further medical assistance. Andrews, true to his character, quietly deplaned without any fanfare. Springs expressed his admiration for the Ravens’ tight end, stating, “As he has done his whole career, he stepped up in a huge moment when people needed him most. Watching complete strangers spring into action to help save someone’s life is truly amazing.”
Andrews, in response to the overwhelming attention surrounding his heroic act, humbly redirected the focus to the flight attendants, nurse, and doctor who were also instrumental in providing immediate assistance. He commended their quick response and expressed gratitude for their contributions.
