The Formula E made its highly anticipated debut in Tokyo, and although the event was a success, many of the championship’s top contenders faced difficulties. One driver who has always faced doubts about his consistency is Max Guenther. However, he proved his critics wrong this season, consistently scoring points in each of the five races. In Tokyo, he secured a well-deserved victory, showcasing his talent and skill. What made his win even more impressive was the team’s decision to adopt a more aggressive strategy after falling behind early. This victory is a testament to the team’s resilience and ability to overcome challenges.

Oliver Rowland also had a standout performance in qualifying, showcasing his impressive skills on the Tokyo circuit. His pace and fluidity in the challenging Turn 4 were unmatched, and his final lap against Guenther was almost flawless. Rowland’s strong performance is a testament to his growth and improvement since returning to the Nissan team. Despite missing out on the podium, both Rowland and Nissan can be proud of their achievements in Tokyo.

Mahindra showed glimpses of competitiveness throughout the season, but unfortunately was unable to translate their potential into results in Tokyo. Edoardo Mortara had a stellar weekend, but a team mistake on the final lap cost him sixth place and valuable points. Despite this setback, Mortara remains optimistic about the team’s progress and believes there are positives to take away from the race.

Mitch Evans had a disappointing race, registering his first non-scoring result of the season. A poor start and a collision with Robin Frijns hampered his progress, resulting in a frustrating race for the Jaguar driver.

Both Jean-Eric Vergne and Stoffel Vandoorne struggled to find pace in Tokyo, finishing in 12th and 16th place, respectively. Being stuck in the middle of the pack on a track with few overtaking opportunities proved to be a challenge for the DS Penske team.

The NEOM McLaren had a race to forget, with both Sam Bird and Jake Hughes unable to keep up with the pace of their competitors. Hughes’ race ended prematurely after a collision with Lucas di Grassi, while Bird retired due to a steering issue.

Overall, the race in Tokyo showcased the unpredictable nature of Formula E, where frontrunners can quickly become also-rans. While some teams and drivers excelled, others faced challenges and lost valuable points. The season is far from over, and there are still plenty of opportunities for teams to bounce back and make their mark.
