Magazine: Greetings from Suzuka

Revista: Saudações de Suzuka

The current weather during this time of year is undeniably pleasant, but introduces an element of unpredictability due to the lack of recent temperature data. However, one thing that can be predicted with more certainty is the performance of the Dutch national anthem at the end of the race. It would be a mistake to assume that the Red Bull team is facing major issues. As Honda’s home Grand Prix, they are expected to intensify their preparations and determination to overcome the resurgent Ferrari team.

The Suzuka circuit perfectly suits the strengths of the RB20, with its combination of medium and high-speed corners. In fact, the team is ready to unveil their unique approach to aerodynamics, which they call “uncapsuled”. This is something that Mercedes has struggled to do effectively. There is great curiosity around how this will look, and Max Verstappen hinted, saying: “The color will probably remain unchanged.”

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has been facing constant criticism, with Toto Wolff continually adding fuel to the fire. Raw fish is quite popular in this region. However, if Red Bull manages to succeed, Toto may find himself facing negative reactions and embarrassment. Speculations about possible defections are also circulating, with Adrian Newey being the center of attention, as rumors suggest he may leave Red Bull to join a trio composed of Newey, Hamilton, and Ferrari. Hamilton recently suggested in an interview with GQ that his future lies in fashion and film. Just imagine the scenario where Hamilton wins his eighth Formula 1 World Championship with Ferrari, driving a car designed by Newey. Apparently, this story is already unfolding, with the provisional title being “GOATS!”

On the other hand, there are rumors of significant changes within the Alpine team this weekend, similar to rearranging the chairs on the Titanic. Reports suggest that the Enstone-based team will introduce improvements in Suzuka. However, unless these improvements are of mythical proportions similar to the Lotus 78, it is unlikely that they will be able to move up from the tenth to the ninth row of the grid.

With a power unit that lags behind the rest of the grid by approximately thirty horsepower and a lack of performance, the team can only hope for minimal achievements until 2026. It is impossible to make something mediocre shine.
