Madrid Mayor Greenlights Thrilling New F1 Circuit: Unprecedented Racing Revolution Unleashed

The Formula 1 world is on the edge of its seat as a new Grand Prix circuit in Madrid has just been given the green light! Get ready for a seismic shift in the F1 landscape in 2026 as the sport prepares for massive changes both on and off the track.

Madrid Mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida has just dropped a bombshell by confirming that the license for the new F1 circuit will be issued imminently, paving the way for construction to kick off without delay. The mayor expressed his enthusiasm, declaring, “Formula 1 is going to be a hallmark of this city. We should all be very happy, except for those who are always resentful and bitter about the good things that are happening to the city of Madrid, like the arrival of F1.”

The proposed 5.47km street circuit in Madrid will wind its way around the IFEMA exhibition centre in the Barajas district, promising a thrilling mix of fast sweeps, tight chicanes, and long straights that will push drivers to their limits. With 20 corners and four potential overtaking points, the circuit guarantees adrenaline-pumping action for both drivers and fans alike.

But not everyone is on board with this groundbreaking development. Reports indicate that the Mas Madrid municipal group is gearing up to challenge the plan to host F1 in Madrid by filing an administrative appeal with the Madrid High Court of Justice. They are even seeking the circuit’s precautionary suspension until a final ruling is reached.

As the F1 calendar reshapes itself for the future, changes are afoot beyond Madrid. The Belgian Grand Prix will now be held biennially starting in 2026, while the Dutch GP is set to bid farewell after the same season. Additionally, concerns loom over the fate of the Emilia Romagna GP. F1 supremo Stefano Domenicali has hinted at potential new additions to the calendar, with countries like South Africa, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia vying for a spot in the prestigious racing series.

The anticipation is palpable as the world waits to see how the Madrid F1 circuit will revolutionize the sport and captivate fans with its high-speed drama. Stay tuned as the countdown to the 2026 F1 season begins!
