The Luxeed S9 is the new SUP Coupé from the joint venture between technology giant Huawei and Chery, promising to be the new rival to the Tesla Model Y in the Chinese market.
The first images of the new model have now been released, still with the traditional camouflage paint, showing that the Luxeed S9 comes with slim LED headlights connected by a light strip, a sloping hood, a closed front, and bumpers with sensors. Additionally, a LiDAR sensor manufactured by Huawei is noticeable on the roof.
This Luxeed S9 also features 20” wheels, and a rear marked by a ducktail spoiler placed on the tailgate, adding a sporty look to this 100% electric model.
The new model, set to arrive in the Chinese market in the second half of the year, is based on the E0X modular architecture designed by Chery, which supports an 800V high-voltage silicon carbide system.
In this sense, “CarNewsChina” has already revealed that the S9 is expected to adopt the same powertrain as the S7, Luxeed’s only model so far, meaning a variant equipped with a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive with 290 hp, and a second version with all-wheel drive and 489 hp.
Both variants come with three battery options, one LFP battery with a capacity of 62 kWh, the M3P battery (NMC + LFP) with 82 kWh, or the high-capacity NMC battery with 100 kWh.
It is worth noting that Luxeed is a joint project between Huawei and Chery, where the technology company is responsible for supplying software, while Chery takes on the responsibility for the modular architecture and production.
