Sakhir hosted the three only days of Formula 3 pre-season testing this week, with Luke Browning standing out. The Hitech Pulse-Eight driver led two out of the three days and set the fastest time overall.
It started with a Sunday where rain made itself felt, preventing the drivers from running optimally in the first session. In the afternoon, conditions improved and Noel León (Van Amersfoort Racing) set the pace with a lap time of 1m46.657s. He surpassed Oliver Göthe (Campos Racing) by 15 milliseconds, with Tim Tramnitz (MP Motorsport) in third place.
The weather conditions were favorable the following day, but the times did not improve compared to León’s benchmark. Charlie Wurz (Jenzer Motorsport) topped the morning session by just one millisecond ahead of Mari Boya (Campos Racing), while Browning slightly improved Wurz’s time in the afternoon to be the fastest of the day. He finished with a 0.066s advantage over Alex Dunne (MP Motorsport).
The last day arrived and Browning immediately set the fastest time of the week in the daytime session with 1m46.566s. He led with a clear 0.259s advantage over Nikola Tsolov (ART Grand Prix), while Max Esterson (Jenzer Motorsport) surprised with the third fastest time. Martinius Stenshorne (Hitech Pulse-Height) and León completed the top five. The times ended up being higher in the second session of the final day (the fastest times were around 1m48s), when Dino Beganovic (Prema) topped the time table by beating León by 75 milliseconds.
