Luca de Meo’s Shocking Resignation Throws Alpine F1 Future into Turmoil

Renault CEO Shocks Industry with Sudden Resignation – What’s Next for Alpine Racing Team?

In a surprising turn of events, Luca de Meo, the CEO of Renault, has dropped a bombshell by announcing his resignation, effective as of July 15th. De Meo, known for his transformative leadership over the past five years, expressed his desire to “pursue new challenges,” leaving behind a Renault that he believes is now “future-ready” with a solid strategic foundation.

During his tenure, De Meo oversaw significant changes, including the restructuring of Renault’s racing division and the rebranding of their F1 team as Alpine in 2021. However, the inconsistent performance of Alpine in F1 and the frequent leadership changes have raised concerns within the industry. Notable decisions made under his leadership involved discontinuing Alpine’s in-house engine program by 2026 in favor of Mercedes engines and appointing the controversial figure Flavio Briatore as an executive consultant.

With De Meo’s departure, uncertainties loom over the future of the Alpine racing team in F1. Speculations are rife that the team might be up for sale as leadership transitions approach, leaving fans and industry insiders on edge about what’s to come for the once-promising racing outfit.
