MOBILE, Alabama – NFL Draft experts are already making predictions about where top college quarterbacks will land in the upcoming draft. Mel Kiper, a well-known analyst, believes that LSU’s Jayden Daniels will be picked by the Washington Commanders with the second overall pick, while USC’s Caleb Williams is expected to be the first pick by the Chicago team.

Despite Daniels’ high projection, he is not attending the Senior Bowl, a five-day NFL Draft convention, this week. While it may not affect his draft position, it would have been an opportunity for him to showcase his skills in front of NFL personnel. However, there is still time for his draft stock to change before April.

Daniels has not yet hired an agent, and it is unlikely that an agent would recommend him to participate in the Senior Bowl given his high projection. Last year, quarterbacks Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud did not attend the Senior Bowl and still went on to be top picks in the NFL Draft. However, missing the Senior Bowl may have affected Stetson Bennett’s draft position, as he was selected in the fourth round despite his success in college.

Daniels is currently considered a top five or top three pick in the draft. Experts believe that his running ability sets him apart from other quarterbacks, and his passing numbers have been impressive. However, there are still questions about his size and injury risk.

While the Senior Bowl may not directly impact a player’s draft position, it provides an opportunity for players to connect with NFL personnel and showcase their skills. In the past, players like Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, and Justin Herbert have participated in the Senior Bowl and improved their draft stock. Ultimately, the Senior Bowl is more than just a showcase for players, as it offers valuable coaching and interaction with NFL coaches.

Despite not attending the Senior Bowl, Daniels could have used the opportunity to dispel the perception that he is a run-first quarterback. Additionally, he would have had the chance to compete and enjoy the experience.

In the end, the decision to attend the Senior Bowl is up to the individual player. While it may not guarantee a higher draft position, it provides valuable opportunities for players to showcase their skills and learn from NFL coaches.
