Lotus lança supercarregadores para veículos elétricos

With 75 years of history, Lotus is undergoing one of the biggest transformations ever, aiming to become an electric brand by 2028.

The Geely-owned brand introduced the Eletre in 2022, the brand’s first 100% electric model, and last September the Emeya, an electric hyper-GT. Now it has revealed that it is developing its own electric vehicle charging solutions, including an ultra-fast charger with liquid cooling of 450 kW, which can add a range of 142 km to the Lotus Eletre R battery in just 5 minutes of charging. In addition, a 10% to 80% charge can be achieved in just 20 minutes.

Designed for the European market, the new charger was conceived, according to Lotus, for “charging station operators, as well as fleets and dealerships”.

Lotus’ new solutions include a power cabinet and a modular charging terminal (both with liquid cooling), capable of charging up to four vehicles simultaneously.

The British brand has promised that its customers can use the 450 kW chargers at no additional cost. Additionally, the first ultra-fast Lotus chargers have already been deployed in China. The brand’s expectation is to expand the charger network to most European and Middle Eastern countries in the second quarter of 2024.

The next-generation charging solutions developed by Lotus surpass Tesla’s 250 kW V3 superchargers and were designed, according to the brand, to increase confidence in charging infrastructure and accelerate electric mobility.

“Over the past six years, Lotus has been investing in technology and infrastructure to accelerate the transition to electrification. We want to make owning an electric vehicle easier than ever, and with our latest offerings, Lotus is able to provide customers with the necessary confidence to access easy, fast, and efficient charging,” emphasized Mike Johnstone, Commercial Director of the Lotus Group.
