Logan Sargeant continues without any points scored as the Formula 1 season approaches its end. The American driver showed promise in the promotion championships, but besides the lack of competitiveness, he was also involved in some incidents with the associated financial and sporting costs.
As is known, the pre-season is currently short, with limited testing days both before and during a season, except for those carried out with previous generation cars. And the Williams rookie admitted, in statements to the Spanish press quoted in grandprix.com, that this has been a “handicap”:
– It would have been ideal to have more kilometers, since it is the best way to prepare. In the past, when [Lewis] Hamilton and [Fernando] Alonso arrived in Formula 1, they had test days in the car until they lost count, something that is very different from today. Now, whenever you test, it is with a previous generation car and that makes a difference. But even if I had more days with any car in the winter, it would have been better.’
At a time when his future has been the subject of rumors, Sargeant also assured that he continues to feel support from Williams: ‘They know what happens behind the scenes and want me to be successful. The team supports me, so I don’t worry about what others say. Experience always helps, but I have people to talk to as I try to adjust how I approach each situation in order to put an end to the small mistakes I am making’.
