Lochie Hughes Blazes to the Top in Thrilling Mid-Ohio Indy NXT Practice

Lochie Hughes Dominates Mid-Ohio Indy NXT Practice Session

In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Lochie Hughes of Andretti Global roared to the top of the leaderboard during the practice session for the Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio. The battle for the Indy NXT by Firestone championship intensified as Hughes outshone his teammate, Dennis Hauger, with a blazing lap time.

Behind the wheel of the No. 26 McGinley Clinic/USF Pro Championship car, Hughes clocked in at an impressive 1 minute, 11.0263 seconds, snatching the lead from Hauger. Despite his stellar performance, Hughes remains in second place in the championship standings, trailing Hauger by 28 points.

Hughes’ spectacular lap came late in the 45-minute practice session at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, leaving his competitors in awe. Reflecting on his performance, Hughes expressed satisfaction with the changes made to his car, setting the stage for a promising weekend ahead.

Meanwhile, Hauger secured the second spot with a lap time of 1:11.1107 in the No. 28 Nammo machine. The young driver pushed the limits of his car, exploring the track’s challenges and fine-tuning his setup for the upcoming races.

Callum Hedge clinched the third position with a time of 1:11.2255, navigating the treacherous course in the No. 17 Abel Motorsports car. Despite a brief excursion into the gravel trap, Hedge demonstrated his resilience and determination to compete at the highest level.

Salvador de Alba impressed with a fourth-place finish in the No. 27 Grupo Indi car, showcasing Andretti Global’s dominance with three drivers in the top four positions. Caio Collet, the victor of the recent round at Road America, rounded out the top five in the No. 76 HMD Motorsports entry, setting the stage for a fierce competition in the upcoming races.

As the rivalry between Hughes and Hauger intensifies, fans can expect a thrilling showdown at the Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio. Stay tuned for more exhilarating racing action as these young talents battle for supremacy on the track.
