Liberty Media announces that they have no plans to alter MotoGP.

The CEO of Liberty Media, Greg Maffei, stated that there are no plans to make significant changes to MotoGP following the complete acquisition of the company in the sport. Liberty Media recently acquired 86% ownership of Dorna Sports for €4.2 billion, with the agreement expected to be finalized by the end of 2024. Maffei addressed concerns about balancing the need for revenue with the growth of MotoGP, emphasizing that the two are not mutually exclusive. He believes that as the fan base and demand for the sport increase, monetization opportunities will naturally arise. Maffei expressed confidence in the current state of MotoGP, describing it as an amazing product with a passionate fan base and intense competition. The goal of the acquisition is to expand the sport’s audience and attract a wider variety of commercial partners. Despite initial fears among fans that the acquisition would lead to significant changes, Dorna CEO Carlos Ezpeleta reassured them that MotoGP does not have the infrastructure to accommodate street circuits like Formula 1.
