Liam Lawson’s Daring Strategy Shift Saves the Day at Brazilian GP!

In a thrilling display of racing prowess, Liam Lawson clinched his sixth points finish of the 2025 season at the Brazilian Grand Prix, showcasing the incredible adaptability of his Racing Bulls team. With the stakes high and the competition fierce, Lawson’s strategic shift during the race proved to be a game-changer that not only salvaged his position but also kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Starting from a commendable seventh on the grid, Lawson found himself trailing behind his teammate Isack Hadjar, who qualified fifth and was poised for a preferred race strategy. However, in a bold move, the Racing Bulls team opted to switch Lawson to a one-stop strategy—a decision that would ultimately define his race.

As the final lap approached, tensions soared. Lawson, engaged in a nail-biting duel with Hadjar, even made brief contact as they approached Turn 1. Finishing in seventh place, Lawson crossed the line a staggering 52.642 seconds behind the victorious Lando Norris, but what unfolded in those last crucial moments was nothing short of spectacular. Lawson found himself towing nearly half the field up the challenging hill from Juncao towards the finish, with Fernando Alonso hot on his heels, just 3.124 seconds behind.

Reflecting on the race, Lawson articulated the significance of the strategy adjustment. “I felt like we had the pace,” he said, acknowledging the challenges he faced as the second car in a tightly packed queue. The original plan was a two-stop strategy, but Lawson’s team recognized the need to pivot. “We knew we had the speed, but we had to figure out a way to utilize it. Doing the one-stop, although it was very, very close and definitely wasn’t the fastest, it gave us track position, and we had enough speed to stay in front,” Lawson explained.

The pressure was palpable as he led a massive DRS train, and Lawson described the mental strain of managing his energy and tire wear: “It was very stressful. I was just trying to keep the lines, trying to manage energy and look after the tires, which are super sensitive.”

Lawson’s ability to adapt and his team’s quick thinking not only secured a vital points finish but also cemented his reputation as a formidable contender in the world of Formula 1. As the season progresses, fans and competitors alike will surely keep a close watch on this rising star and his dynamic Racing Bulls team.
