Liam Lawson reveals shocking truth: quitting social media transformed his life for the better

Liam Lawson's Life-Changing Decision: Ditching Social Media for a Brighter Future!

In a bold move that has dramatically transformed his everyday existence, Kiwi racing star Liam Lawson has cut ties with the “toxic” world of social media, claiming it has significantly enhanced his quality of life. After enduring relentless online harassment across various platforms, Lawson's decision is a refreshing testament to the mental health struggles many face in the digital age.

As he gears up for his inaugural full season with the Racing Bulls in 2025, Lawson’s journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster. After a challenging stint where he was unceremoniously dropped by Red Bull following just two races in 2025, Lawson showcased resilience, securing remarkable results alongside teammate Isack Hadjar. While Hadjar ascended to the coveted second seat alongside the formidable Max Verstappen, Lawson's path has been redefined, and he is now poised to return with a renewed sense of confidence.

In a revealing conversation on the Gypsy Tales podcast, Lawson opened up about the liberation he feels after stepping away from the digital landscape. “It’s so much better. So, so much better,” he exclaimed, shedding light on the detrimental effects of social media. He empathized with those still grappling with its consequences, particularly young individuals who find it hard to escape the clutches of online bullying. “In New Zealand at least, Facebook was probably the main one. Instagram was pretty new. I feel like yeah, [New Zealand is] really behind in some ways,” he stated, reflecting on the pervasive influence of these platforms.

Lawson's candid remarks underscore a critical societal issue: the inability to escape bullying due to the omnipresence of social media. “So good because now bullying in school is something that you can’t escape when you go home because of social media,” he noted, emphasizing the harsh reality that many young people face today.

As he prepares for what promises to be a pivotal season in 2026—now, for the first time, standing as the most experienced driver in his team—Lawson embodies a renewed vigor, bolstered by the strategic vision of Team Principal Alan Permane. This fresh chapter in his career marks not only a professional rebirth but also a personal triumph as he prioritizes mental well-being over the pressures of online scrutiny.

In an era where social media can often feel like a double-edged sword, Lawson's courageous choice serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of mental health in the high-octane world of Formula 1 racing. As fans eagerly anticipate his next moves on the track, it is clear that Lawson is not just racing toward victory; he is racing toward a healthier, happier life.
