Liam Lawson nega desejo de se juntar à F1 como substituto de piloto ferido.

Liam Lawson expressed his desire to secure a permanent position in Formula 1. Red Bull has an incredibly successful development program in the world of F1. Most current F1 drivers have connections to Milton Keynes. However, this often poses a challenge for young Red Bull drivers aspiring to be promoted to F1. Liam Lawson is a classic example of this. The talented New Zealand driver has made it clear that his ultimate goal is to secure a full-time seat in the pinnacle of motorsport.

At the end of 2023, Lawson replaced Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri (now RB) for a few races, after the Australian driver injured his wrist at the Dutch GP. Despite delivering exceptional performances for the Faenza team, Red Bull did not grant him a permanent seat for the current season. Consequently, the 22-year-old driver found himself demoted to the reserve bench.

Liam Lawson openly discussed his contemplation about the future beyond 2024. He emphasized that he is not content with being a substitute for an injured driver in a Red Bull team. Instead, his aspiration is to be trusted by the Austrian giant to compete full-time in the pinnacle of motorsport.

“I am constantly thinking about the future. I don’t want to race just because someone is injured; I want to race because a team has placed their trust in me with a full-time seat,” Lawson stated.

RB seemed to be Lawson’s best opportunity to secure a permanent seat in F1. However, reports suggest that the team is prioritizing the retention of Daniel Ricciardo. Furthermore, there are no indications that the Italian team will replace Lawson, at least for the next season.

Lawson recognized his desire to continue working with Red Bull in the F1 realm. Over the past six years, the 22-year-old driver has been part of the Red Bull family. However, he made it clear that if the Austrian giant cannot offer him a seat, he is open to exploring options with rival teams.

Undoubtedly, Liam Lawson is one of the most promising young drivers outside of Formula 1. Red Bull undoubtedly wants to secure the talented New Zealand driver long-term. However, even rival teams are keeping an eye on Lawson, potentially hoping to lure him away from Milton Keynes. The moment when the 22-year-old driver will have the opportunity to compete in F1 as a full-time driver remains uncertain.
