Lexus has confirmed that the new LBX, the compact crossover from the Japanese brand, will arrive in the national market in March.
The first Lexus developed on a variant of the global architecture platform for compact cars GA-B, adjusted and adapted to meet the brand’s requirements and thus provide benefits such as a low center of gravity, wide tracks, short projections, and a highly rigid body, measures 4.19 m in length, 1.82 m in width, 1.54 m in height, and 2.58 m in wheelbase distance, making it the smallest Lexus ever.

The LBX also stands out for introducing a new stylistic language, but one that remains faithful to the tradition of its builder in this domain. The sophisticated exterior design, with well-defined shapes, is dominated by a newly designed front section, where an unprecedented lighting signature stands out, as well as at the rear, which will be applied to the other Lexus models in due course.

Once inside, the available space will not differ much from that offered by the Yaris Cross, with the trunk announcing a capacity of 322 liters, and featuring an electrically operated rear gate.

As for the mechanics, only one hybrid engine option will be available, combining a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with a continuously variable transmission, an electric motor, and a small battery of new conception, of the bipolar nickel metal hydride type, with higher energy density than lithium-ion cells, in order to favor acceleration response. Weighing 1280 kg, with 136 hp and 185 Nm, the LBX promises an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, and a top speed of 170 km/h.
Available in the national market in a few weeks, the new Lexus LBX has a starting price of €36,032.
