Get ready for a jaw-dropping surprise at the F1 Silverstone race! Forget traditional trophies because this time, the podium winners will be taking home Lego trophies alongside the prestigious BRDC awards.
Designed by the talented Samuel Liltorp Johnson, these unique Lego trophies were meticulously assembled by 7 builders in Billund, Denmark, taking a total of 210 hours to complete. The first-place trophy, made up of a whopping 2717 bricks, weighs just over 2 kilograms, making it a true masterpiece of Lego engineering.
To ensure the trophies stay intact during the adrenaline-fueled celebrations on the podium, Lego took the extra step of gluing the bricks together. While there are currently no plans to sell these special trophies, die-hard fans could potentially recreate them using pieces from other Lego sets.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there! This collaboration between Lego and Formula 1 is just the beginning, with more thrilling projects in the pipeline for the rest of the season. According to Emily Prazer, the Chief Commercial Officer of Formula 1, this partnership aims to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Formula 1 in style.
“We are thrilled to mark this special occasion at the birthplace of Formula 1 in 1950 with these exquisite trophies,” Prazer commented. “Working with Lego has been a fantastic experience, creating engaging and creative moments that captivate both our existing fans and newcomers alike.”
Stay tuned for more groundbreaking collaborations between Lego and Formula 1 as they continue to push the boundaries of innovation and creativity in the world of motorsport.
