Lewis Hamilton’s Shocking Absence: Ferrari’s Antonio Fuoco Takes Center Stage in Mexican GP FP1!

Lewis Hamilton to Sit Out Mexican GP FP1: Ferrari’s Antonio Fuoco Takes the Wheel!

In a shocking announcement that has sent ripples through the F1 community, Lewis Hamilton is set to miss the first practice session at the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix! This unexpected turn of events opens the door for Ferrari’s talented Antonio Fuoco to step in and drive the SF-25 car during FP1. It’s a significant moment for Fuoco, marking his first official appearance on an F1 race weekend—a milestone over a decade in the making since his initial test with Ferrari.

The 29-year-old Italian, who has been pivotal in Ferrari’s success in the World Endurance Championship, including a triumphant victory at the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours in 2024, has long been associated with the Scuderia despite being released from their junior program in 2018. Fuoco has remained an invaluable asset as a simulator and development driver, and now he’s ready to showcase his skills on the F1 stage.

Under current F1 regulations, teams must field a rookie driver—defined as someone who has participated in no more than two Grand Prix events—in at least two FP1 sessions each season. With Hamilton’s absence, it appears Ferrari is utilizing this opportunity strategically. Sources suggest that Hamilton will indeed step aside since teammate Charles Leclerc has already filled his quota for rookie sessions this season. Leclerc was replaced earlier this year by the promising Dino Beganovic, who took on the challenge at both the Bahrain and Austrian Grands Prix.

In a spirited post on social media, Fuoco expressed his excitement: “Got the call. Mexico, see you on track for FP1! Let’s do this!” His enthusiasm is palpable as he prepares to take the plunge into the high-octane world of Formula 1 racing.

As the season winds down, Hamilton will also need to accommodate a rookie driver in one of the final four rounds. With the Brazilian and Qatari races set to feature sprint formats, there’s a slim chance he will miss FP1 at those events. Moreover, the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which takes place on a street circuit, is another unlikely scenario for a rookie outing. This leaves the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix—the season finale—as the most probable opportunity for Ferrari to fulfill its rookie requirement with Hamilton’s car.

As the F1 world gears up for the Mexican Grand Prix, all eyes will be on Antonio Fuoco and whether he can deliver a performance that could potentially shake up the standings. Fans are buzzing with anticipation—what will this rising star bring to the hallowed tarmac of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez? Will Hamilton’s absence prove to be a blessing in disguise for Ferrari? Stay tuned as this thrilling saga unfolds!
