The former fitness trainer of Lewis Hamilton has moved to IndyCar to coach Marcus Armstrong. Hamilton and Angela Cullen (via IMAGO) went separate ways at the beginning of the 2023 Formula 1 season. Cullen was often seen alongside the seven-time world champion during race weekends. The departure of such a vital part of Hamilton’s career was not easy for the 39-year-old driver. Now, the British driver has spoken out about Cullen’s move from Formula 1 to the IndyCar series.
Hamilton had nothing but praise for his former trainer. When discussing Cullen’s personality, Hamilton described her as a “healer” and a very “positive” person. Therefore, her departure was certainly a challenge for the seven-time world champion. Additionally, Hamilton mentioned that Cullen’s purpose was to spread love to everyone she met, a mission she successfully fulfilled.
Regarding Cullen’s new role as a coach for an IndyCar driver, Hamilton stated that she was enjoying the different environment. Furthermore, the 39-year-old driver mentioned that Cullen had developed a passion for racing after her time in Formula 1. Consequently, it would be difficult for the physiotherapist to return to a different life role after catching the “racing bug.” Hamilton also emphasized that Cullen truly belonged in the sport and was content in her current position.
Despite Cullen’s exit from the sport, Hamilton and Angela Cullen remain friends off the track. The two often meet outside of their respective professions, and the 39-year-old driver stated that their friendship remains strong despite the separation.
In fact, Hamilton and Cullen are such close friends that they are planning to do an activity together soon. Hamilton announced that they will soon meet for an activity like skydiving. Additionally, the British driver expressed his gratitude for everything Cullen has done for him and stated that they will never part ways.
Therefore, Lewis Hamilton eagerly awaits the reunion with his former instructor and friend. Angela Cullen also posted on her X account about “rolling in red” after Hamilton’s move to Ferrari. Despite being separated from Formula 1, the two continued to closely follow each other’s lives.
