It is known that Lewis Hamilton closely follows MotoGP, but now the still Formula 1 driver for Mercedes may be considering going further and getting involved in the championship through the purchase of a team.
This is Gresini Racing, which has an agreement as a customer team of Ducati – the most competitive manufacturer currently – and confirmed Álex Márquez as one of its riders for 2025 this Monday. It is a well-established team in the paddock and capable of fighting for good results, with one of its riders – Marc Márquez – currently in third place in the World Championship.
The website The-Race.com writes that sources close to Gresini confirm the interest in a potential acquisition by Hamilton. Currently, the owner is Nadia Padovani, who took over the structure after the death of its founder – and her husband – Fausto Gresini in 2021.
This weekend, the Dutch Grand Prix took place in Assen, and it is speculated that someone close to Hamilton was present with Gresini. At this time, the conversations seem to be in an embryonic and exploratory phase of the project’s feasibility.
Despite the highly packed F1 calendar, Hamilton has several activities outside the paddock, such as Team X44 in Extreme E, a network of vegan restaurants, or the film production company Dawn Apollo Films. In sports, he is a co-owner of the NFL American football team Denver Broncos.
Regarding his connection to motorcycling, #44 has already helped in the design of limited edition motorcycles from MV Agusta. In 2019, he had the chance to ride a MotoGP bike in a joint initiative with Valentino Rossi. Now, Hamilton may have the prospect of participating in MotoGP as an owner, and for that he may even count on the support of some of his long-term loyal sponsors.
