Lewis Hamilton apoia a decisão de Max Verstappen na polêmica GP de Abu Dhabi.

Max Verstappen emerged victorious over Lewis Hamilton in the 2021 driver’s championship, triggering a major controversy in the world of motor sports. The two drivers have a tumultuous history in Formula 1, with the 2021 showdown being particularly significant. Verstappen clinched his first Formula 1 driver’s championship at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP.

In a surprising turn of events, Hamilton expressed that he did not blame Verstappen for the outcome of the 2021 season. He also mentioned that he was not surprised by rumors suggesting Verstappen’s possible move to Mercedes. Hamilton criticized the sport for leaving the drivers in the lurch in the face of controversial results.

Hamilton went further by sympathizing with Verstappen and stating that if he were in the Dutchman’s position, he would have done the same. This suggests that the two drivers have developed a strong bond off the track. However, Hamilton had previously hinted that he would seek revenge for the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP in his final season with Mercedes.

Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari in 2025 opened up a seat at Mercedes. Verstappen has been considered a potential candidate to fill that seat and follow in Hamilton’s footsteps. The British driver revealed that Verstappen was on the list of possible recruits for the upcoming season.

Despite the speculations, Verstappen is currently under contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season. He has shown loyalty to the team and is expected to honor his contract. However, Verstappen has not completely ruled out the possibility of joining Mercedes in the future.

Red Bull has been providing Verstappen with excellent racing opportunities, giving him few reasons to leave the team at this time. The driver’s future in Formula 1 remains uncertain and only time will reveal his next move. For now, Verstappen will continue to compete for Red Bull in the 2024 season and will seek success within the team.
