Lewis Hamilton in Crisis: Shocking Predictions from Johnny Herbert as Fernando Alonso Reigns Supreme!

In a jaw-dropping revelation, former F1 driver Johnny Herbert has thrown Lewis Hamilton’s championship aspirations into turmoil, boldly suggesting that his long-time rival, Fernando Alonso, stands a better chance of reclaiming glory in Formula 1. Hamilton, who made a controversial switch to Ferrari in early 2025, is facing a reality check as he grapples with a dismal performance, having failed to secure a podium finish and languishing in a disappointing sixth place in the 2025 drivers’ championship.

The seven-time world champion’s struggle is starkly highlighted when compared to his Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc. While Leclerc celebrated seven podium finishes, Hamilton found himself drowning in a sea of mediocrity, suffering his most humiliating defeat to a teammate yet, trailing a staggering 86 points behind Leclerc. At 41, Hamilton is still younger than his adversary Alonso, who, at 44, continues to defy age as he races for Aston Martin.

Alonso, a two-time world champion, is determined to be a force in the sport as Aston Martin aims to rise up the ranks under the innovative guidance of Adrian Newey. Herbert has caused a stir by voicing his preference for Alonso over Hamilton in terms of potential for a comeback. “If I look at those two, and I go, right, which one would I expect, if he were given the car, which one would be the one I put my money on? And I probably, unfortunately, sadly, say I’d probably go Fernando,” Herbert stated emphatically on the Stay on Track podcast.

Despite racing in a car that Herbert calls “not the best,” Alonso has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to extract maximum performance, something that has been conspicuously absent from Hamilton’s recent outings. Herbert expressed his astonishment at Hamilton’s inability to find that extra edge, stating, “I’m sort of shocked that we never ever saw that. I’m sure he’s very frustrated and shocked that he wasn’t able to do it. And then I look at his face and those interviews after the race, and you go, he’s lost. He cannot understand what he needs to do to get around the problem he’s got. And of course, Charles is getting around it.”

As the F1 world gears up for the monumental regulation changes set to take effect in 2026, both Hamilton and Alonso face a pivotal moment in their careers. These sweeping shifts could provide Ferrari with the chance to leap ahead of their competitors if they master the nuances of the new power unit and car design regulations. For Hamilton, this shift might be the lifeline he desperately needs after enduring a challenging transition into the ground effect era, where he has only claimed two race victories since 2022.

While the prospect of an eighth world title seems increasingly elusive for Hamilton, the 41-year-old is undoubtedly eager to extend his record of 105 grand prix victories. Alonso, on the other hand, may feel that a third world championship is slipping through his fingers, yet the possibility of a 33rd career victory is tantalizingly within reach if Aston Martin can finally get their house in order. It’s been over a decade since Alonso last stood atop the podium, and the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix feels like a distant memory.

As we approach the 2026 season, the question remains: Can Hamilton and Alonso defy the odds and reclaim their rightful place in F1 history? The battle for supremacy in Formula 1 is heating up, and fans are left to wonder who will ultimately rise from the ashes. Buckle up, because this thrilling saga is far from over!
