Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Dream Turns Into a Nightmare: Is His Career Over?

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, faces a harsh reality as he struggles to find his footing in his new team, Ferrari. Former F1 driver Giedo van der Garde believes Hamilton is grappling with a new generation of drivers who excel in the current F1 cars, a challenge he might not be able to overcome.

After a lackluster final season with Mercedes in 2024, Hamilton made the much-anticipated switch to Ferrari for the 2025 season. However, his transition has not been smooth sailing. Despite a Sprint pole and victory in China, Hamilton has yet to outshine his teammate, Charles Leclerc, in a race.

Van der Garde highlighted that Hamilton’s confidence has taken a significant blow, affecting his performance on the track. The former driver expressed concerns about Hamilton’s inability to adapt to the driving techniques of the younger generation of racers like Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, George Russell, and Lando Norris, who seem to have a better grasp of the current F1 cars.

Van der Garde noted, “He’s facing a different generation now. He’s getting older and also took a hit when he didn’t manage to take that eighth World title. I think at the moment that’s a problem he can’t get out of.”

The Dutchman’s analysis extended to Hamilton’s recent race in Saudi Arabia, where he appeared to lack speed and finished significantly behind Leclerc. Van der Garde remarked, “Sometimes he was one and a half to two seconds a lap slower than Charles Leclerc. He also finished thirty seconds behind Leclerc.”

With Hamilton’s confidence hitting an all-time low, questions arise about his ability to bounce back from this rough patch. Can the legendary racer find his stride at Ferrari, or is his illustrious career nearing its end on a sour note? Only time will tell if Hamilton can rise above the challenges and reclaim his dominance in the world of Formula 1.
