Lewis Hamilton Reunites with Angela Cullen Ahead of Ferrari Debut

The Lewis Hamilton era at Ferrari is officially underway, and it brings with it a heartwarming reunion. Angela Cullen, Hamilton’s long-time performance coach, is back on his team as the seven-time Formula 1 champion embarks on a new chapter with the Scuderia in 2025.

Cullen, who first joined forces with Hamilton in 2016, played a pivotal role in his rise to dominance, supporting him through four consecutive titles between 2017 and 2020. Their professional partnership ended in March 2023, marking a challenging period for Hamilton, who endured two consecutive winless seasons.

Angela Cullen Returns to Project 44

After parting ways, Cullen turned her attention to other projects, including working with Marcus Armstrong in IndyCar. However, speculation about her return to Hamilton’s corner began swirling when both shared photos from mountain retreats, with Cullen hinting at her connection to Hamilton with a flag bearing the number 44 in the background.

Her official return sees her joining Project 44, Hamilton’s performance organization led by Marc Hynes. Cullen will resume her role as Hamilton’s physiotherapist, while also contributing to his broader performance initiatives.

Hamilton’s Move to Ferrari

Hamilton’s reunion with Cullen coincides with his high-profile switch to Ferrari, ending his historic partnership with Mercedes. The Briton kicked off his Ferrari journey this week by meeting team principal Frederic Vasseur and CEO Benedetto Vigna. He also toured Ferrari’s headquarters and is set to take his first laps in the SF-23 at Fiorano, the team’s iconic test track.

The return of Cullen offers Hamilton a familiar anchor as he adjusts to his new surroundings. Their enduring friendship, which Hamilton described as “unshakable,” is set to bolster his focus and confidence during this transitional phase.

Hamilton on Cullen: “We’re Stuck with Each Other”

Despite their professional split in 2023, Hamilton had always hinted at a potential reunion, emphasizing the strength of their bond.

“Angela is living her life right now. She’s got so many ideas of things she wants to do. We message pretty much every day,” Hamilton said at the time.
“We’re still going to skydive together. We are always going to be in each other’s lives.
We’ve been through thick and thin. I am incredibly grateful for her, I love her dearly.”

A New Chapter for Both

Cullen’s return is not just a testament to their professional synergy but also to the personal trust they share. For Hamilton, having Cullen on his side may serve as the secret weapon he needs to adapt quickly to the challenges of Ferrari, a team hungry for its first championship since 2008.

As Hamilton prepares to make his mark in red, the return of Cullen could signal the revival of the dominant form that made him one of the greatest drivers in F1 history. The duo’s reunion is not just a nostalgic nod to their past success but a promising step forward for Ferrari’s future.
