Lewis Hamilton’s F1 Crisis: Is the 7-Time Champion’s Dominance Fading at Ferrari?

Lewis Hamilton’s Formula 1 nightmare continues as he finds himself at the bottom of the driver rankings, facing criticism for his lackluster performance since joining Ferrari. The seven-time world champion made the controversial move from Mercedes to Ferrari, hoping for a fresh start, but has struggled to make an impact on the track.

Despite a brief glimmer of success with a sprint race win in China, Hamilton has failed to secure a top-five finish in any main event this season. This disappointing performance has led to him being labeled as the worst-performing driver in F1, according to a recent study by time2play. The study analyzed drivers based on points, podiums, races, and salaries, with Hamilton coming out as the biggest underperformer.

Even more alarming for Ferrari is the inclusion of both Hamilton and his teammate Charles Leclerc in the list of underperforming drivers. Leclerc, who represented Ferrari in the past two seasons, also failed to meet expectations, landing two places behind Hamilton in the rankings.

The data revealed that Hamilton had the highest underperformance score, followed by Valtteri Bottas and Leclerc. What is particularly concerning is that the Ferrari duo are the only full-time drivers on the list, highlighting the team’s struggle to find success in the elite racing series.

In contrast, McLaren’s rising star, Oscar Piastri, emerged as the most overperforming driver, showcasing impressive results with over 194 points and 10 podium finishes in the last two seasons. Piastri’s stellar performance has catapulted him to the top of the 2025 drivers’ championship, overshadowing top contenders like Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.

As Hamilton’s woes deepen and Ferrari grapples with underwhelming performances from their drivers, the F1 landscape continues to shift, with new talents like Piastri rising to claim the spotlight. The pressure is on for Hamilton to prove his critics wrong and show that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level of motorsport.
