Toto Wolff’s Bold Words on Lewis Hamilton’s Struggles at Ferrari

Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025 has been nothing short of tumultuous. The British racing icon’s dream switch quickly turned into a nightmare as he grappled with the challenges of adapting to the SF-25, a car far less competitive than anticipated, with teammate Charles Leclerc consistently outperforming him on the track.

In a candid interview on the Hot Pursuit podcast by Bloomberg, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff opened up about Hamilton’s predicament at Ferrari. “You never count out someone like Lewis. His performances are still at a very high level,” Wolff declared, offering unwavering support for his former driver despite the setbacks at his new Italian outfit.

Wolff acknowledged the difficulties Hamilton faced transitioning to the prancing horse, emphasizing the intricate adjustments required when changing teams. “Switching teams doesn’t make you suddenly lose your qualities,” he noted, highlighting the significant learning curve for Hamilton in adapting to a new car, engineering team, and the uniquely Italian environment as an “Englishman parachuted in there.”

While Hamilton’s struggles at Ferrari have been evident, Wolff’s faith in the champion driver remains unshaken. “I would never count Lewis Hamilton out,” Wolff affirmed, hinting at a potential resurgence from the resilient Brit amidst the challenges of a new team and car dynamics.

As Hamilton navigates the stormy seas of change at Ferrari, the F1 world watches with bated breath to see if the British maverick can defy the odds once again and rise to reclaim his dominance on the grid.
