Formula 1 fans are in for a treat as the legendary Fernando Alonso drops a bombshell comparison between Lewis Hamilton’s struggles at Ferrari and his final season with Mercedes. Alonso, a seasoned F1 driver, highlights the similarities between Hamilton’s current challenges at Ferrari and the tough times he faced at Mercedes in 2024.

Despite the hype surrounding Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, the British driver, now 40, is facing a podium drought, with only one victory over his teammate Charles Leclerc in the first ten races. Alonso, shedding light on the situation, suggests that Hamilton’s difficulties are reminiscent of his struggles with the Mercedes W15 in his farewell season with the team.

In a recent media interaction, Alonso shared insights, stating, “I think it didn’t change much, the situation from last year, with [George] Russell. The Mercedes was a complicated car to drive, apparently.” He further added, “Russell was a little more comfortable, maybe this year it’s the same thing – but without knowing the full picture, it’s difficult to have an opinion.”

Despite the challenges, Alonso remains optimistic about Hamilton’s future at Ferrari. The Spaniard, who previously drove for Ferrari from 2010 to 2014, believes that Hamilton’s exceptional driving skills will help him overcome the setbacks he’s currently facing. Referring to Hamilton’s abilities, Alonso expressed confidence, saying, “Lewis is a tremendous driver, especially in tracks like this in Canada. He’s able to exploit all his strengths. So over 24 races, then you do the maths. At the moment he’s struggling, but I think he can reverse the situation quite quickly.”

Hamilton, known for occasional flashes of brilliance, showed promise during the Chinese Grand Prix where he secured pole position in the Sprint race. However, his hopes of breaking the podium drought were dashed in the recent Canadian Grand Prix due to an unfortunate collision with a groundhog that damaged his SF-25.

As fans eagerly anticipate Hamilton’s resurgence at Ferrari, Alonso’s insights provide a compelling narrative of parallels between Hamilton’s current struggles and his past challenges in Formula 1. Will Hamilton defy the odds and reclaim his winning ways at Ferrari? Only time will tell in this high-octane world of Formula 1.
