Lewis Hamilton Blasts New F1 Tracks: “90% Are Worse Than Classics”

In a scathing critique, Lewis Hamilton has taken aim at the new Formula 1 circuits, expressing his disdain for over 90% of them, which he believes are inferior to the iconic venues they have replaced. The seven-time world champion did not hold back in his assessment, highlighting his skepticism about the quality of the modern tracks being introduced to the F1 calendar.

As the anticipation builds for Madrid to host the Spanish Grand Prix next year, potentially replacing Barcelona, Hamilton voiced his support for the historic event to remain part of the racing schedule. Despite acknowledging the importance of progress in the sport, Hamilton emphasized the significance of preserving classic races and venues, such as the one in Spain.

The Formula 1 landscape has witnessed a shift towards street circuits in recent years, with locations like Jeddah and Las Vegas making their mark on the calendar. However, Hamilton expressed doubts about the new tracks’ ability to deliver the same level of excitement and challenge as the established circuits that have stood the test of time.

With Spa-Francorchamps set to alternate on the calendar from 2027, Hamilton’s concerns about the evolving F1 tracks echo the sentiments of many drivers and fans who hold the traditional circuits in high regard. The British driver emphasized the importance of creating quality circuits, expressing skepticism about the success rate of new track developments.

Hamilton’s critical stance on the new F1 tracks sparks a debate about the direction of the sport and the balance between tradition and innovation. As the F1 calendar continues to evolve, the opinions of drivers like Hamilton shed light on the challenges of maintaining the sport’s rich heritage while embracing change and modernization.

The future of Formula 1 circuits hangs in the balance as the sport navigates between preserving its classic races and introducing new venues to captivate fans and drivers alike. Hamilton’s bold criticism serves as a reminder of the passion and reverence that drivers hold for the iconic tracks that have defined the sport’s legacy.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Formula 1 calendar and the ongoing debate surrounding the introduction of new tracks in the world of motorsport.
