Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton demands a bigger role with the FIA, questioning the current status of drivers within the organization. The seven-time world champion expresses his desire for closer collaboration between drivers and the governing body, emphasizing the need for their voices to be heard in decision-making processes. Hamilton, renowned for his unparalleled success on the track and global influence, advocates for a more prominent position for drivers at the table of power.

Notably, George Russell, chairman of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA), and Carlos Sainz, the newly appointed director of the association, have also raised concerns about the FIA’s recent operations. Russell voices discontent with the mass staff turnover at the FIA and engages in a verbal battle with Max Verstappen over regulations. The drivers, including Hamilton and Russell, aim to shift the focus back to racing and enhancing the sport for fans, rather than being embroiled in administrative disputes.

During media sessions leading up to the Miami Grand Prix, Hamilton and Russell echo the sentiment that drivers should play a more pivotal role in shaping the future of Formula 1. The GPDA, originally established to address safety and sporting improvements, now finds itself entangled in political discussions and disciplinary matters. Both Hamilton and Russell stress the importance of prioritizing the essence of racing and technological advancements over bureaucratic issues.

As the F1 community awaits the Miami Grand Prix, the call for reform within the FIA resonates strongly among drivers, signaling a potential shift in the dynamics of power within the sport. Hamilton’s bold stance underscores a growing movement among drivers to assert their influence and contribute meaningfully to the evolution of Formula 1.
