Lewis Hamilton Warns Fans: “Don’t Expect Magic from Me”
The British champion has had a rough start to 2025, slightly uplifted only by his victory in the Chinese Sprint. Following the challenges faced at the beginning of this season and the controversies surrounding Ferrari’s arrival in Bahrain – notably the internal debate on whether to bring updates to the SF-25 to Sakhir, which eventually happened – the media naturally has its focus on what is happening within the red team.
After the winter hype of Lewis Hamilton joining Charles Leclerc as a seven-time world champion, expectations were sky-high and have so far been underwhelming. The only moment of true joy in these early races of 2025 came from Hamilton during the China GP Sprint. The Englishman dominated the event, showcasing his immense talent. However, some may have been misled into thinking that the veteran Brit could magically turn the tide of Ferrari’s season single-handedly. That is not the case, and the word ‘magically’ was not chosen randomly.
A brief interview given by Hamilton in Bahrain is going viral, where a journalist asked the Ferrari #44: “What would you say to our viewers who are expecting something magical from you? What would you say to them?” This question carried an implicit compliment, considering Hamilton has indeed performed various ‘magic’ feats throughout his career.
The new Ferrari recruit, however, wanted to temper expectations, urging all Prancing Horse fans not to anticipate unachievable miracles: “Don’t do it. It’s simple. Don’t expect anything, watch and enjoy. We are working as much as possible, so I can’t say more. I have nothing else to add.” This comment might not be what the fans wanted to hear, but given the challenges faced in these initial races, it is understandable. Ferrari needs hard work right now, not magic tricks.
