Lewis Hamilton acknowledged that Mercedes should focus on the positives from the Belgian GP after George Russell was disqualified. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton had to hand over his Belgian GP win to his teammate as his car was found underweight post race. Mercedes admitted they made a major error in managing Russell’s car weight before the race. This unfortunate situation left Russell in tears and caused Mercedes to lose their first 1-2 finish of the season. Despite the incident, Lewis Hamilton found positives in the outcome.

Lewis Hamilton expressed his disappointment for the team in missing a crucial 1-2 finish at the Belgian GP. However, the Briton highlighted many positives to take away from the race and learn from. He believed the car had performed well and exceeded their expectations in terms of speed. During practice sessions and Qualifying, Hamilton had previously mentioned that the car didn’t feel as good as it did in previous races. This gave the team hope and confidence for future races. Although they didn’t achieve the desired result, they gained valuable knowledge and made progress.

Furthermore, Hamilton explained that there were other cars in the race that were performing similarly to his. However, once he and Mercedes managed to overtake those cars, they were able to maintain their position at the front. They opted for a two-stop strategy, making two pit stops during the race. This strategy allowed Hamilton to hold his position and stay ahead of the trailing cars. By sticking to the strategy, they effectively managed the race and maintained an advantage over their competitors.

Lewis Hamilton expressed sympathy for Russell’s disqualification despite winning the race. He acknowledged that winning due to someone else’s disqualification isn’t the ideal way to secure a victory. However, he pointed out that the team has been competing for wins in recent races, which is a positive sign. Although they missed out on the 1-2 finishes, they still earned 25 points.

Hamilton recognized that the competition at the front has become tougher with McLaren and Red Bull. Therefore, the team will need to put in a significant effort to consistently fight for victories. Despite the challenges, he emphasized that they can approach the summer break with optimism and momentum. The Briton believed that this positive outlook will help them prepare and come back stronger for the second half of the season.

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton considered Russell’s disqualification as a significant loss for the team and himself. He didn’t view the Belgian GP win as ideal because he believed his teammate performed better. However, they decided to move forward, taking the lessons into consideration. Fans had mixed emotions, feeling both delighted and disappointed by missing out on the 1-2 finish that would have given them a crucial lead in the constructors championship.
