Lewis Hamilton Rages Against FIA: “Double Standards” Lead to Controversial Penalty!

In an explosive revelation following the Mexican Grand Prix, F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton has voiced his deep dissatisfaction with the FIA’s decision to impose a 10-second penalty on him, labeling it a glaring example of “double standards.” The incident in question unfolded amidst a fierce battle with former rival Max Verstappen, leaving fans and pundits alike questioning the consistency of the governing body’s rulings.

The chaos began as the race surged forward, with Hamilton and Verstappen reigniting their age-old rivalry on Lap 6. In a dramatic twist, Verstappen executed a daring maneuver, diving inside the Ferrari at Turn 1, and as they raced side-by-side into Turn 2, he found himself on the grass, only to return to the track ahead of Hamilton. This set the stage for Hamilton’s own misstep as he attempted to retaliate on the approach to Turn 4. Locking up his front right tire, Hamilton careened onto the grass, and instead of adhering to the prescribed escape route, he rejoined the race in a position that the stewards deemed to have granted him an unfair advantage.

In a scathing critique of the FIA, Hamilton expressed his discontent post-race, stating, “Ultimately, I feel very let down by the governing body. It is double standards, as you can tell. It is what it is.” His words echoed the frustrations of many fans who could see the inconsistencies in how penalties are applied in Formula 1.

The FIA, standing firm in its decision, clarified its position on the penalty. The stewards reported, “Car 44 (HAM) locked brakes, left the track at Turn 4 and used the grass area while rejoining in the direction of Turn 5. As the driver was unable to follow the route prescribed by the Race Director along the ‘yellow line’ due to an excess of speed, no breach of the Race Director’s Notes is deemed to have occurred. However, by leaving the track and cutting the corner, the driver gained a lasting advantage, overtaking Car 1 (VER) and failing to give back the position thereafter.” This explanation only fueled the fire as Hamilton ultimately finished the race in a disappointing P8, while Verstappen claimed third.

Adding fuel to the controversy, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur sided with Hamilton, suggesting that the punishment did not fit the alleged crime. Vasseur remarked, “This cost us P4… One thing is the penalty, for sure, that we didn’t follow the race director’s notes. But 10 seconds? I don’t remember when someone took 10 seconds. If you consider the global picture, Max cut the corner before, he cut the chicane, in the grass, 100 meters. I think it’s not very well managed, honestly.” His comments highlighted the growing sentiment among teams and fans that the FIA’s decision-making process needs serious reevaluation.

As the championship heats up, Hamilton now finds himself in sixth place, trailing his teammate Charles Leclerc by an alarming 64 points, with just four races remaining in the season. The pressure is mounting, and the stakes are higher than ever as the F1 world awaits Hamilton’s next move amidst a backdrop of controversy and discontent.

Will Hamilton rise above the FIA’s perceived injustices? Stay tuned as we continue to follow this developing story, ensuring you get the latest updates straight from the heart of the F1 paddock!
