Leclerc revela capacete de tributo a Bianchi para o Grande Prêmio do Japão

The Ferrari Formula 1 driver, Charles Leclerc, has revealed an exciting design for the helmet he will wear at the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix in honor of the late Jules Bianchi.

During the 2014 race at Suzuka, Bianchi suffered a serious accident after aquaplaning on the wet track. Unfortunately, he passed away seven months later.

Due to their close bond, Bianchi was named Leclerc’s godfather and played a crucial role in shaping his career.

Leclerc’s latest helmet design is inspired by Bianchi’s own design when he raced for Marussia, featuring the retired number 17 on one side.

This is not the first time Leclerc has paid tribute to Bianchi with his helmet design. In Monaco in 2019, he showcased a split design that incorporated his father’s design.

Although the Japanese Grand Prix has been moved to an earlier date on the F1 calendar this year, the 2024 event will mark the 10th anniversary of Bianchi’s accident.

Leclerc spoke about the importance of the race and his connection to Bianchi, stating: “This place has a special meaning to me. Whenever I come here, Jules is in my thoughts.”

“I think of Jules often because he played a key role in helping me get to where I am today. In 2010, he spoke to my manager, Nicolas Todt, to support my journey to F1. He was a game-changer in my career.”

“Even before that, we had a very close relationship, and our families remain close to this day. So being here is incredibly special. I will have a helmet dedicated to him this weekend, and as always, he will be in my heart. It’s important to perform well in his memory.”

Pierre Gasly, a fellow French driver, believes that Bianchi served as an inspiration for aspiring French drivers aiming to reach the pinnacle of single-seater motorsport.

“Jules will always be remembered for who he was,” Gasly stated. “Not just as a driver, but also as a kind-hearted human being. He was a role model for many drivers, especially in France.”

“I remember when we were part of the French team, alongside young drivers like Anthoine Hubert and Esteban. We all looked up to Jules as the next big name in F1. It was widely believed that he would eventually make it to Ferrari.”

“It is incredibly sad to remember what happened. Jules left a lasting impact on F1 and beyond, and I will always remember him.”
