Charles Leclerc of Ferrari clinched the lead during the second practice session for the 2025 Australian Grand Prix. However, it is the McLaren team, the defending Formula 1 constructors’ champions, that has truly caught the eye of the motorsport community.

Presenting a strong show of skill and strategy, McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri secured the second and third positions respectively. This impressive performance was achieved on Soft tyres, even before Leclerc set his fastest time. The team’s ability to adapt and perform under pressure, as demonstrated by these excellent timings, suggests that they are undoubtedly the team to watch out for this season.

McLaren’s CEO, Zak Brown, spoke with Sky Sports F1 during the practice session, expressing his satisfaction with the team’s performance. He stated, “I feel good. So far so good. Everyone is still learning about their car as we…” This comment suggests a sense of optimism and confidence in the team, reinforcing the belief that McLaren is indeed poised for success.
