The 2025 edition of the Munich Motor Show in Germany, starting next week, promises a grand showcase of new models in the 100% electric and hybrid categories.
Among the new offerings, Leapmotor will introduce the Lafa 5, a model developed to directly compete with the VW ID.3, right in German territory.
The Lafa 5 is a 100% electric compact hatchback, initially known as the B05, and is based on the LEAP 3.5 modular architecture, similar to that of the B10 SUV, following Leapmotor’s distinctive design language, featuring curved LED technology headlights, retractable door handles, a sporty spoiler, and a rear light strip.
Official images show that the new model features a low silhouette, a high beltline, and a look that avoids excesses, presenting a modern and understated image aimed at pleasing the European market.
Leapmotor has already revealed that the Lafa 5 will make use of a Lidar system, something uncommon among models of this size and at affordable prices, which should indicate that the model will offer some level of semi-autonomous driving. In addition, it is equipped with a rear camera, well-defined wheel arches, and tinted mirrors.
It is also worth noting that the Lafa 5 is the first model from Leapmotor that does not use two characters as its name, which, according to the Chinese press, reflects Leapmotor’s goal of accelerating sales in international markets.
