Leapmotor has announced that it will unveil the C10 SUV with Range Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology, also known as range extender, at the upcoming Brussels Motor Show.
This model combines a 215 hp electric motor with a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine. The electric motor is powered by a 28.4 kWh battery that provides an electric range of 145 km (WLTP), while the total combined range exceeds 950 km.
With a reported fuel consumption of just 0.4 L/100 km in combined mode and CO2 emissions of 10 g/km, the C10 REEV promises to significantly reduce emissions and fuel consumption compared to traditional gasoline vehicles.
The range extender essentially operates as an electric vehicle, with the electric motor driving the wheels. When the battery charge decreases, the internal combustion engine (ICE) kicks in to generate electricity, recharging the battery and extending the range.
Leapmotor has already revealed that the C10 REEV supports fast AC and DC charging, allowing it to significantly increase range in a short amount of time. With DC fast charging, the C10 REEV can recover half of its electric range in just 18 minutes.
