Maior parque de carregamento de veículos elétricos na Península Ibérica inaugurado em Madrid

Galp and the BMW Group inaugurated this week the largest charging park for electric vehicles in the Iberian Peninsula, located in the Madrid region.

Located in the Intu Xanadú shopping center in the Madrid region, the new electric vehicle charging park features 116 charging points – 16 ultra-fast and 100 semi-fast – with powers of 180KW and 22KW, respectively.

The more than 12.5 million annual customers of Intu Xanadú will thus benefit from an infrastructure with over 3.6 MW of power that ensures the simultaneous charging of multiple vehicles without the risk of saturation.

Depending on the charger used and the electric vehicle, users of this new facility will be able to recover up to 100 km of range in just 6 minutes or 90 minutes.

The strategic location of the new electric charging park, in the Spanish capital and at the center of the Iberian Peninsula, reinforces the commitment of both companies to electrification, promoting the creation of a network of charging points along the main medium and long-distance corridors of Spain and Portugal, eliminating barriers to the adoption of electric mobility.

“In the last 5 years, Galp has invested over €1.3 billion in Spain, reflecting the importance of this country in our strategy. Today, we are one of the main solar energy producers in Iberia and we manage a mobility network in Spain with more than 550 refueling stations, convenience stores, and a growing electric charging network. The Xanadú project demonstrates our firm commitment to the transition to increasingly sustainable mobility and the ambition among leading partners in their respective sectors”, said João Diogo Marques da Silva from Galp.

It is worth noting that Galp’s charging infrastructure in the Iberian Peninsula has nearly doubled each year over the last five years, increasing from a base of 500 chargers in 2020 to the current 8,500.

Currently, 21% of Galp’s charging network in the Iberian Peninsula consists of fast and ultra-fast sockets, with the aim of creating a network that increasingly brings the experience of electric charging closer to that of traditional refueling, providing more chargers, faster, and in key locations for millions of users.
