Former Formula 1 world champion, Nico Rosberg, has delivered a harsh message to McLaren driver Lando Norris following the British driver’s disappointing performance at the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix. Rosberg suggests that Norris should seek the help of a psychologist to improve his mental game and performance on the track.

Despite showing promise with a pole position in Monaco, Norris faltered in Spain, allowing rival Oscar Piastri to snatch the top starting spot. This inconsistency in performance has been a recurring issue for Norris since McLaren’s rise to championship contention in 2024.

Rosberg, who overcame the likes of Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton to claim his world title, emphasizes the importance of mental strength in Formula 1. Drawing from his own experience, Rosberg reveals that he worked extensively with a psychologist to manage the pressures of competing at the highest level of the sport.

The German-Finn highlights the rigorous mental training he underwent, including sessions of up to six hours per week, meditation practices, and emotional control techniques. These efforts ultimately paid off as Rosberg clinched the championship by a narrow margin and then retired from the sport shortly after.

Rosberg’s advice to Norris comes from a place of understanding the mental fortitude required to succeed in Formula 1. As the young driver navigates the challenges of high-stakes racing, seeking professional help to sharpen his mental game could be the key to unlocking his full potential on the track.

In a sport where milliseconds can make the difference between victory and defeat, Rosberg’s words serve as a reminder that mental resilience is just as crucial as physical prowess. As Norris reflects on his performance in Spain, the suggestion to enlist the support of a psychologist may be the catalyst for a turning point in his racing career.
