Lando Norris left fuming after disappointing qualifying at Imola
British driver Lando Norris expressed his frustration after a disappointing qualifying session at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Norris, who had high hopes for a better grid position, was left puzzled by his lack of pace, stating, “Everyone always goes quicker, and I go slower.”
During the qualifying session at Imola, Norris found himself outside the top three, ending up in fourth place. He lost crucial time in sectors two and three on his final lap in Q3, failing to improve his initial flying lap time. This setback allowed George Russell to secure third place, pushing Norris down to fourth.
Norris, who entered the 2025 F1 season as a top contender for the championship, has been struggling with his qualifying performance. This race marks the third time in four events where he will start outside the top three.
Reflecting on his performance, Norris admitted, “I made a lot of mistakes… It is just never good enough in my final lap in qualifying.” Despite acknowledging his own errors, Norris emphasized that there is nothing wrong with his car, as it remains competitive on the track.
The McLaren driver, known for his strong qualifying performances in the past, is facing challenges this season. Norris attributed his difficulties to various changes and acknowledged that he has not been able to replicate his previous success in qualifying.
Expressing his determination to improve, Norris stated, “I am working hard, the team are working hard, and it is difficult moments, but it is the way it is at the moment.” Despite the setbacks, Norris remains focused on regaining his qualifying form and competing at the front of the grid.
As Norris continues to strive for pole position, the upcoming races will test his resilience and determination to overcome his qualifying struggles and challenge for victory on the Formula 1 circuit.
