In a fiery response to Red Bull’s complaints about flexible wings in Formula 1, Lando Norris from McLaren has fired back, telling them to “complain less” and focus on improving their on-track performance. The spotlight has been on McLaren’s rear wing for its flexibility, leaving Red Bull struggling to match the British team’s achievement. Despite the FIA implementing stricter tests, McLaren insists their design complies with the new regulations, despite Red Bull’s criticisms.
Norris, leading the driver standings, criticized Red Bull for griping instead of enhancing their own performance, suggesting they concentrate on developing their car rather than pointing fingers. He also dismissed conclusions drawn from videos showing the flexing of the rear wings, stating that people do not truly understand what they are seeing.
“We are all within the rules, doing a good job, and Red Bull has had plenty of time to do the same as us and didn’t,” Norris told Reuters. “They should do a better job instead of complaining. We respect the FIA and are pleased they continue to try to correct things because we don’t want anyone breaking the rules, but the latest changes didn’t affect us. I don’t know if the new ones will or not, but there are many things Red Bull does that also exceed the limits. So, we can play that game too, but we will focus on ourselves rather than complaining about others.”
Referring to the circulating videos, Norris questioned, “How do they know it’s the rear wing that is flexing? They don’t know, it could be the whole car. So, people can make up whatever they want, but they really have no idea.”
