Lando Norris should not expect an apology from Max Verstappen for their incident at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Lando Norris’ chances of receiving an apology from Max Verstappen appear to be slim as the Dutch driver continues to push the boundaries on the race track. Verstappen and Norris, who are both considered top contenders for the 2024 F1 championship, had a collision during a fight for the lead in Austria. Norris expressed his desire for Verstappen to apologize and take responsibility for the incident, but it seems unlikely to happen.

Despite being close friends off the track, Norris acknowledged that their friendship could be at risk if Verstappen does not accept blame for the crash. Verstappen, however, made it clear that he would review the footage and have a conversation with Norris once things have calmed down, without showing any inclination to apologize.

Their strong bond aside, both drivers are fiercely competitive and despise losing. A former Red Bull driver even stated that Verstappen would never admit fault for this crash. Therefore, it may be time for Norris to let go of any hopes for an apology from the reigning world champion.

Verstappen is known for his aggressive racing style, and even Red Bull team boss has said that Norris should learn how to race against him instead of expecting Verstappen to change. Many would agree with this sentiment. Other drivers, including the seven-time world champion, have had on-track battles with Verstappen without seeking an apology.

Norris, on the other hand, seems to have unrealistic expectations of Verstappen apologizing immediately after such an incident. The two drivers will meet to discuss the clash, but it is likely that their battles will only intensify throughout the remainder of the 2024 season.

Verstappen has never altered his racing style and is unlikely to do so now. If Norris wants to win the 2024 F1 championship, he will need to accept Verstappen’s aggressive nature and focus on improving his own driving skills. It would be best for Norris to put any hopes of an apology aside and concentrate on pushing himself to the limit.
