Lando Norris reveals shocking truth: wished for extra month of relaxation after historic championship triumph

Lando Norris Craves More Time Off: The World Champion’s Honest Confession

In a stunning revelation ahead of the thrilling 2026 Formula 1 season, reigning world champion Lando Norris has candidly expressed a desire for a longer break to savor his monumental achievement. After an exhilarating showdown last year, where he triumphed in a nail-biting three-way battle against Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri, Norris is now gearing up for what promises to be a transformative season in the history of the sport.

As the teams congregated in Barcelona for the shakedown tests that officially kicked off the new era of Formula 1, Norris, adorned with the coveted #1 on his car, reflected on his recent success. He is set to pilot the MCL40, a vehicle that could make him the first McLaren driver since the legendary Mika Hakkinen in 1999 to successfully defend a World Championship title. However, amid the excitement, the young British driver revealed a surprising sentiment: “I would have loved to have had another month to relax and enjoy everything, to savor every moment.”

Just over a month has passed since the checkered flag waved in Abu Dhabi, marking the end of a season that felt like a dream come true for Norris. “It didn’t even feel like a month off,” he admitted, emphasizing the fleeting nature of his break. “I spent those few weeks trying to come to terms with what had happened last year. My dream became a reality, and even now, I’m still trying to accept it.”

But make no mistake, this longing for a leisurely break doesn’t signal a lack of ambition for the upcoming season. Norris is back in the driver’s seat, fueled with a renewed sense of determination as he prepares to tackle the challenges of 2026 head-on. “Now is the time to get back to work and we need to try to start fresh,” he stated, radiating confidence. “It’s a huge challenge with all the new regulations and changes this year, but I feel good. I’m thrilled to have achieved something monumental in my life.”

As the new season unfolds, the stakes have never been higher. With Norris eager to defend his title, the racing world is watching closely. Will he navigate the complexities of this new era and secure his place in the annals of Formula 1 history? One thing is certain: Lando Norris is back, and he’s hungrier than ever. Fans can only hope the break he craved will fuel his fire to conquer the tracks once more.
