After a rollercoaster 2024 season, Lando Norris heads into 2025 with a renewed sense of confidence, determined to claim his first Formula 1 World Championship. Despite falling 63 points short of Max Verstappen, Norris played a crucial role in McLaren’s stunning comeback, securing their first Constructors’ Championship since 1998 by edging Ferrari by 14 points.

Now, with McLaren surging forward and self-belief at an all-time high, Norris is more motivated than ever to challenge for the ultimate prize.

A Season of Growth and Frustration

In an interview with the BBC’s F1: Back at Base podcast, Norris reflected on his highs and lows from 2024, admitting that missing out on the title stung.

“When that realization kind of sets in of ‘it’s gone,’ it’s a tough one. This is what I’ve done since I was a kid, this is all I want to do. So, as soon as that kind of candle is gone and it’s over, it hurts.”

But despite the heartbreak, Norris found plenty of reasons to be proud.

“It’s been a year where I’ve been pretty proud of my performance,” he said. “Proud of performing under the pressure that we’ve been under, delivering when I have.”

While he admitted to making mistakes, Norris sees them as valuable lessons heading into 2025.

“For us to go into next year knowing we have what it takes, we have a car… I believe I’m a good enough driver and I’ve got everything it takes.”

A Newfound Confidence for 2025

One of the biggest changes for Norris heading into the 2025 season is his self-belief.

“Confidence is something I’ve struggled with in the past,” he revealed. “And probably I’ve only built enough up throughout this season to go, ‘I’m confident that I’m a good enough driver to win a championship next year.’”

This marks a significant shift in mindset for the four-time race winner, who previously doubted whether he had what it took to beat the best in Formula 1.

“I’m excited to go into 2025 knowing I’ve learned a lot, I’ve improved a lot, and I’m ready to bring the fight to everyone.”

McLaren’s Rising Force: Can Norris Dethrone Verstappen?

With McLaren rapidly closing the gap to Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes, the 2025 season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in years.

✅ McLaren is now a proven title contender
✅ Norris has newfound confidence and experience
✅ The car has championship-winning potential

But can Norris finally topple Verstappen?

If McLaren can maintain their momentum, Norris will be right in the mix when the season kicks off at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne after pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 26-28.

One thing is certain—Lando Norris is no longer just a contender. He’s a genuine championship threat.
