McLaren’s Lando Norris left scratching his head after disappointing Bahrain qualifying session
British driver Lando Norris expressed his frustration and disappointment after a lackluster performance in qualifying at the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix, labeling himself as “clueless” on the track.
Despite showing promise in practice sessions, Norris struggled to match the pace of his teammate Oscar Piastri and failed to deliver a competitive lap in the Q3 top-10 shootout, ultimately securing a sixth-place grid position.
Speaking to the media, Norris admitted his struggles, stating, “I’ve been off every lap this weekend, just not comfortable. No big complaints. The car’s amazing. I’ve been off it all weekend. Don’t know why, just clueless on track at the minute.”
The young driver acknowledged that the issue lies within himself rather than the car, recognizing Piastri’s strong performance in claiming pole position. Norris emphasized the need for self-improvement, expressing uncertainty about finding a solution to his current challenges on the track.
Despite the championship implications of Piastri closing in on Norris in the Drivers’ standings, the McLaren driver remained unfazed, stating, “I’m not concerned. I’m just concerned about me. Couldn’t care less [about the championship].”
With McLaren and Norris acknowledging the need for improvement, the pressure is on for the talented driver to address his performance issues and bounce back in the upcoming races to maintain his lead in the championship.
As the Bahrain Grand Prix approaches, all eyes will be on Lando Norris as he aims to turn his qualifying struggles into a strong race performance and reclaim his position at the top of the standings.
