Lando Norris Roars: McLaren’s Struggle Sets Stage for Explosive Battle with Mercedes at Canadian Grand Prix

In a shocking turn of events, Lando Norris has declared McLaren’s performance during the 2025 Formula 1 season’s Canadian Grand Prix as their “worst Friday” yet. The young driver anticipates a fierce showdown with Mercedes for pole position after facing difficulties during practice sessions.

Despite being a mere 0.028s behind George Russell in the second practice, Norris expressed his concerns about McLaren’s subpar performance. Championship leader Oscar Piastri lagged in sixth place, trailing 0.439s behind Russell, who opted for the medium tires during the session.

“We need to get the car in a better place. It’s difficult. It’s been our worst Friday of the year so far, maybe not worst in terms of pace but the most difficult to put together and most tricky,” shared Norris, highlighting the challenges they encountered.

The McLaren driver acknowledged Mercedes’ impressive speed, reminiscent of their dominance in the previous year’s Canadian Grand Prix. Norris emphasized, “Mercedes now seem very quick, just as they were last year here. They were quite easily the best here last year.”

Despite the formidable competition posed by Mercedes, Norris remains optimistic about McLaren’s chances. He remarked, “We are still there or thereabouts. At the minute, we are not quickest but you never know.”

As tensions rise and anticipation builds for the upcoming race, all eyes are on McLaren and Mercedes as they gear up for a high-stakes battle on the track. Stay tuned for more updates as the Canadian Grand Prix unfolds.
